DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER
A poem for an anniversary
You know that saying - happy wife, happy life?
Well it takes a lot to keep away any strife.
You'll both have needed tonnes of tact,
marriage isn't easy - that's a well known fact!
When one's been married this many years,
there may well have been occasions for some tears.
But Margaret and Gerald, you're doing something right
as you've made it through, night after night.
Kim and Karen were born; life seemed fulfilled,
great family values have been instilled.
There's even been a 'Rhodesian adventure',
but going to Vic falls was an absolute drencher.
Your return to England was bittersweet,
although Finchley was home, and where you had your first meet.
Now you're living the Cornish dream,
eating your fill of scones - with cream.
The grandchildren came along and the family grew,
there's Great-Grandchildren now ( and some furry ones too.)
A diamond celebration - that's sixty whole years!
Let's raise our glasses and all say"Cheers!"
Congratulations on this major event,
We wish you well and a life of content.
